What to expect at Bucharest’s Thermal Spa

First thing’s first. Be prepared for the scale of this place. It is huge!
The Bucharest Thermal Spa can accommodate over 4,000 people, has 10 different pools, even more water slides, upto a dozen saunas and even an outdoor, artificial sandy beach.
This is a fully fledged leisure and wellness resort on a scale seldom seen, dwarfing anything remotely comparable in Romania and comfortably boasting the largest urban beach in the entire European continent.
Known as Therme București in Romania, the company behind this spa resort are serious players and are looking to expand into the United States, Dubai and South Korea.
Plans are also well underway to bring the Therme experience to the people of Manchester, close to the Trafford Centre shopping centre, with a provisional opening date of 2028.
In addition to the network of swimming pools around the spa the Therme offers a wide variety of other attractions and treatments.
You can inhale Himalayan salt air in a saline library…..with walls made of salt!
They have a selenium and zinc pool water which you can bathe in as well as other pools enriched with other minerals.
For sore muscles there is even infra red light beds to help warm up and relax tense parts of your body.
If you prefer the open air then outside is a beautiful botanical garden. There is also the pleasantly warm outdoor Palm pool and the sandy beach.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars on site serving a variety of food, drinks and cocktails.
Planning your trip to the Thermal Spa is critical!

Due to the sheer scale of this place then planning and preparing your visit is key as it is so easy to get overwhelmed when you arrive and then miss out on something you really wanted to do, for example, sample one of the many spa treatments.
So maybe, to begin with, it’s a good idea to understand the cost of Bucharest Thermal Spa tickets. Thankfully, they are priced very reasonably but it’s good to know what kind of prices to expect for admission, for drinks, treatments etc.
For this reason, we would strongly recommend jumping to our dedicated page on pricing where you can find the finer details on how much does it cost to go to the Therme spa in Bucharest, how much does a towel cost and whether people think that a visit to the Therme Bucharest is worth it.

How long do you need at Therme Bucharest?

How long you choose to spend at the thermal spa is entirely upto you but you need to be aware that when you buy your tickets you will have to select the duration of your visit.
There are three time options available. A three hour stay, a four and a half hour stay and a full day stay with the ticket prices if you want to stay longer than three hours.
Bearing in mind that even a full day stay is reasonably priced (around £ 35) then we would recommend slecting the “full day holiday” option also known as a “day pass” to give you the time to relax and explore the facilities at your leisure (which is really the entire point of this resort).
Does the Bucharest Thermal Spa has it’s own hotel?

Unfortunately not. Despite it’s size the thermal spa in Bucharest doesn’t have an on site hotel.
However, there are plenty of great hotels nearby if you wanted to stay near to the Therme and the spa even has it’s own recommend partner hotels.
Unless you intend to visit the thermal spa every day then a taxi ride from Bucharest city centre would take you about 40 minutes during oeak traffic.

Three Zones – Three Experiences
Galaxy, The Palm and Elysium are the three zones which the Bucharest thermal spa is based around. Each zone has been carefully designed to provide a different experience to the others and to keep each vibe totally separate.

Galaxy Zone
The Galaxy zone is all about fun and frolics for the entire family. Loads of water slides to keep everyone entertained and a wave pool that mimics the sea. It is a great family day out.

The Palm Zone
Pool bars, mineral pools and maybe the largest urban outdoor beach in Europe. The Palm zone offers an oasis of calm and relaxation thanks to it’s minimum age limits of 14.

Elysium
Elysium is the place to treat your mind and body. This zone focuses on state of the art treatments to pamper and relax a tired body.
